The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase

The Christmas Cottage

Synopsis:

Any couple who spends the night in the Christmas cottage shall have love everlasting... Lacey Quinn did not believe in happily ever after or the legend of the Christmas cottage. As maid of honor for her best friend Ava, her duties included decorating the cottage for the newlyweds. It was a simple enough task, but she hadn't counted on sexy Ean Callahan, the bride-to-be's brother, to be assisting her. Spending the evening ensconced in the overly romantic setting while a blizzard howls outside has Lacey wondering if fairy tales really do come true...

Review:

The Christmas Cottage was another great read from Samantha Chase. I love that both of the male leads in the stories I have read are these really smart guys who are not conventionally super attractive. They are not the buff hot guys that everyone wants. They are the guys that people kind of look over or don't really see for who they are. They are not players, they are just kind of nerdy guys. I like that. It is a nice change from the obviously super hot characters that everyone wants.

Lacey and Ava have been best friends forever. Lacey always had a crush on Ava's brother Ean, but when he was heading off to college when she was 14 she thought this is it! This is when I tell him I love him and we live happily ever after! Well of course this doesn't end well for Lacey. Number one she surprises Ean. Number two even if he wanted to be with her she is only 14, he 18 so that is not going to work. Number three he is leaving the next day.

Ever since that humiliating night Lacey has avoided seeing Ean. It hasn't been hard seeing as how he doesn't come home to visit often. He always wanted to get out of their hometown and as soon as he could he was out of there. He starts his own company after college and that is that.

Ava is getting married on Christmas Eve, a tradition in their family. There is a legend that whoever spends the night in the Christmas Cottage on their families land will live happily ever after. Ava is counting on this being true to give her the happily ever after she has always wanted. Things with her fiance are not that good, but she is determined that if they just spend their wedding night in the cottage everything will be fine. The problem? Well their issues are not really superficial easy fixes. They are big issues. I must say I didn't really like Ava in this book. She gets really crazy and it is like what is wrong with you? It really...she was just annoying. It is attributed to being like a bridezilla for the wedding, but man I did not like her. Throughout it all everyone keeps trying to get Ava to see that maybe she shouldn't be getting married as she really needs to work through these issues.

So since Ava is counting on the night in the Christmas Cottage fixing everything she wants it to be perfect. She has a binder full of things that she must have to make the wedding night just perfect. It is too much for one person so Lacey will be working with the best man, Ean. Twelve years later and Lacey is still hurt by what happened with him when she was fourteen. She is not looking forward to working with Ean so she plans on just going up to the cottage and trying to get a feel for what she will need to do to get everything done. It just so happens that the night she shows up there is the same night that Ean came back and is staying at the main house for a bit. He didn't tell anyone he was coming as he wanted a little time to himself. They end up having to spend the night in the Christmas Cottage when they get snowed in and things get hot! It was great.

Even though Ean and Lacey kind of started something when they were snowed in together, Lacey doesn't want to really try for a real relationship with Ean. She doesn't want to be left broken hearted when he goes back home. She can't up and move and she doesn't want to ask him to so she tries to stay away. It doesn't really work so well as they both care for the other. I loved Ean and how he tries to respect Lacey's wishes even though he wants to be with her. They are so cute together and I just loved this story. Another great 'will they finally figure out how to be together' read. Now to read the next book and see Ava's story. I hope Ava is not as annoying once she doesn't have the wedding business to deal with.
