Today is the day!!! Love Hacked is out now!!! You should all go get it. Even if you don't know Penny Reid's other books, go get this one. Get the others as well, but seriously go one click this one! It is amazing and I loved every moment of it. In fact I might have read it multiple times already... I just couldn't put it down! Amazing.
Love Hacked: A reluctant romance (Knitting in the City)
There are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn't been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit.
Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra--near desperation and maybe a little tipsy--gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all.
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. Penny Reid has somehow managed to top herself. I have been following news on this book for a bit, and one of the beta readers commented that Sandra and Alex, the main characters in Love Hacked, were even better than Janie and Quinn, the main characters from her first book Neanderthal Seeks Human. I thought no way. Not possible. I LOVE Jane and Quinn. No way these new people could possible be as amazingly awesome as them. I was wrong. Somehow they are even better!
This book, just like NSH, starts off amazing right from the first page. I laughed out loud so many times in the first few chapters, something that is actually difficult to do. I chuckle at things, but not like this. I found myself sitting at home, by myself, wishing I had someone here to share the brilliant, hilarious lines in these first pages. I wish I had someone to talk to every two seconds and share how awesome this book was.
"'Three years is a long time' he said, his voice achingly seductive.
I frowned because I was confused, but whispered, 'Yes. And fettuccine noodles are too thick.'"
Amazing. Seriously, go read it when it comes out. Sandra is a little odd, in a very good way, and so is Alex. She keeps thinking how they are both weird, but that is good. They can be weird together. I loved her. Her and her t-shirts for every occasion. Her and her odd thoughts and trains of thought. She is very practical and logical, but so cute as well. She is another character I wish I were bff with. Really I wish I could knit and then I could join their knitting group. I mean hang out with Janie and Sandra? Yes please.
Alex is...so incredibly hot! The scenes with Sandra and Alex are just sizzling. They are incredible together. He has his secrets, he doesn't trust people, but he does trust Sandra. They are dynamite together. From the very first you can see it. It is so hot. He is also incredibly sweet at times. I just melted in a puddle when she wakes up to find him doing the dishes. Such a simple thing, but so sweet! I loved him. He also has a bit of a control thing which I do find incredibly sexy. He tried to be dominating, but Sandra doesn't really go for that, at least at first. Man I loved it.
The story? Well I didn't really know much about bitcoins before reading this. I feel like I am like Sandra and I still don't really fully understand, but that is okay. It was interesting having this not conventionally attractive, secretive ex-con, government spying on him all the time hero. It was an interesting storyline and I greatly enjoyed all the sneaking around and what not that they had to do.
This story really had everything. It was hilariously funny, super sweet, incredibly hot, everything rolled into one story. I don't know how Penny Reid did it, but she made one amazing book. I don't give many books 5 stars, I'm a tough critic, but this one really deserves it. Great read, definitely go out and get this book. Especially if you are familiar with Penny Reid and like her other books. This one is better. You will not be disappointed.
