Act Like You Love Me (Accidentally in Love #2) by Cindi Madsen

Act Like You Love Me (Accidentally In Love)

Synopsis:

What would you do for a second chance with your first crush?

Brynn McAdams isn’t the awkward drama geek she was in high school—she’s grown up and confident, or at least she likes to think so. But when her old crush, the impossibly handsome and impossibly unattainable Sawyer Raines, comes back to town to direct her community play, Brynn finds herself determined to be someone other than the girl he doesn’t even recognize. Good thing she’s an excellent actress.

After his bad breakup in NYC, the last thing Sawyer wants is to get involved with another actress. But the glamorous and beautiful Brynn draws him in, even though as her director, he knows she’s off-limits. There’s just something about the woman that feels…familiar. Like home.

As Brynn’s lies start to snowball, she struggles to stop acting and come clean. But what if Sawyer is already falling for the fake Brynn, not the Brynn she truly is?

Review:

I really wanted to like Act Like You Love Me. I really enjoyed Falling for Her Fiance and I was expecting another cute, fun story. Unfortunately Brynn annoyed the heck out of me and I couldn't stand her which just made the story so painful to read.

Brynn was awkward in high school. Sawyer always seemed like a nice guy, but when she puts herself out there one time he hurt her feelings. Unfortunately she has not been able to get past what happened in high school even though this is years later. And what happened? Well not much really, but she is clinging to that embarrassment and how awkward she was and just goes on and on and on about it. When Sawyer shows up in town again and doesn't recognize Brynn she is not very happy. I mean he was a horrible person in high school yes and now he doesn't even recognize here!! He hurt her one time so he must still be a terrible person! She was so ridiculous and juvenile about the whole thing it just bugged the heck out of me. I was just like get over it or move on to someone else! High school was awhile ago. People change. Deal with your issues and stop complaining all the time! Sure you are still attracted to him, but deal with it or move on already!! Stop with the complaining about high school!!

Sawyer had a lot going on in his final years of high school. He doesn't remember what he did to hurt Brynn's feelings and he doesn't even recognize her when he sees her. He thinks she is some LA actress and he tries to stay away. The last time he dated an actress it didn't work out so well, but Brynn seems different. She is fun and sweet and he wants to spend more time with her, but she keeps getting angry with him for no reason that he can figure out. He keeps trying though as he really likes her, but it is hard to get past her prickly exterior.

If Brynn could  have gotten past her high school experiences or gotten help with her issues or something this would have been a fun book. It would have bee cute with the whole high school crush and now he likes her and they are cute together, but trying to stay away since they are working on this play together and yeah. Instead I just got super annoyed with  her for continuing to be like but in high school....It was just ridiculous and she was so whiny about it! She wanted Sawyer, but in high school...I just couldn't deal with it. She just annoyed me too much so I couldn't enjoy the book.
