The Rise (The Alexa Montgomery Saga Book 3)

Synopsis:

The supernatural world in which Alexa Montgomery has found herself is on the brink of war. She is charged with the task of raising an army, defeating an evil dictator, and struggling to contain the bloodthirsty monster that lives within her.

These are things Alexa can handle, but when the person she loves most in the world takes a turn for the worst, Alexa's loyalty and determination will be tested in the most horrifying of ways. Will she be able to rise to the challenge, or will her love for her sister kill her once and for all?

Review:

The Rise is the third book in the Alexa Montgomery series. So far there have been some ups and downs for me, but overall I am enjoying it. This continues right where the second one left off and woah no one should mess with Alexa or her sister!

Really this book is more about the sister and her dark side than Alexa. Alexa saved her mom at the end of the last book only to have her become very angry that they left Nelly alone! Alexa's only job is to look after her sister! And on and on the mom went. Man I did not like her. So they have to rush back to Two Rivers and hope they are not too late.

Nelly was taken to see the King at the end of the last book and man was she amazing in the beginning of this one. I loved that she has the dark side as well and watching her go a little crazy and seeing just what she is capable of. I loved her even if she is not completely good at the moment. I loved that she is so strong and powerful. Her mind control abilities are awesome! She just gets angry and man when she gets angry it is not good. Really I think she is more of a threat than Alexa is as she would be able to do more damage to more people more quickly. I wouldn't want to mess with Nelly.

Throughout this book Alexa fights to try and save her sister from herself, but she doesn't know what to do. They go to another safe haven, some place that is full of lots of mythical creatures not just vampires and werewolves. It was fun and they have a chance to try and figure out a plan to save Nelly. I liked getting a glimpse into rest of this world where there are other mythical creatures. They just stay out of the werewolf/vampire politics which is why we haven't seen them before now. Very interesting.

Everything leads up to the big ending. Will Alexa be able to save her sister, or will she have to figure out how to go on without her help? It was a pretty great read. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
