Review:

Death of a Rock Star was an okay read. I guess I should preface this by saying I am not really into rock star romances. I don't really like famous people in my stories so I was wanting to read this prequel novella before diving into the full length book, The Boy in the Band. Just to see if it would be my thing or not.

This short story started off not so good for me. I just didn't like Sylvie at all, I didn't know enough about her to feel for her or even understand why she would be the way she was. And Blake? He made even less sense to me. As soon as he saw Sylvie he turned into this almost stalker obsessed with her and I have no idea why. She apparently is so beautiful men folk cannot help themselves and are just gaga over her instantly. Odd. So he was not good for me in the beginning. Sylvie was his best friend Jamie's girlfriend, the girlfriend who untimely was Jamie's downfall. The girlfriend who cheated on Jamie all the time as she apparently can't not sleep with every guy she comes across, but Jamie loved her and that sent him into a downward spiral that lead to his death. Yeah.

So I was reading and just eh on the whole thing. Blake finally starts to try and pull himself together, not be so obsessed with her. He also plays in a band, but he doesn't want to go big time like his bandmates. And Sylvie? Well she just gets on with it and sleeps with rock stars and does her thing. It was just...not my favorite but not the worst either. It's just not my thing really. But then I read the sneak peak at The Boy in the Band and it made me really curious to see what happens next. Sylvie seemed to be different than the girl I had just read about, not as like maybe I wouldn't hate her. And Blake? I loved his hatred for Sylvie that he is using to try and hide how much he wants her. So maybe I will give the full story a try. See how everything works out for these two.

Overall this was just an okay read. Really I wish we would have learned more about Jamie and Sylvie's relationship. Seen why he would have taken his life and what actually happened. Maybe that is in the next book. We shall see.
