Escape to The UnKnown

Review:

The Unknown was not a very good book. The writing of the story was just not good. There was no real...it was just everything happened instantly and the conversations and everything were so unbelievable. The whole thing came off a bit clinical and too easy. It was just not good. I didn't care about anything or anyone because they were just..it was just too quick and easy.

The story starts off with Misty traveling to Florida to stay with her aunt (hopefully). She meets Drake almost right away and even for insta love this was really quick. They both instantly love each other and need each other and yeah. It was way too quick, even for insta love. Totally not believable. Just like everything in this story.

So Drake is giving Misty a ride, but then he ditches her when his girlfriend calls and is upset about it. Well quickly he realizes his mistake as he needs to be with Misty so he goes back for her. Only she is gone on the bus he got her a ticket for. So he follows the bus and sees this creepy guy go in the restroom after her. When he gets there the creepy guy is trying to rape her and he beats the guy pretty badly. Now I read some of the good reviews for books that I don't like just to see what people did enjoy about the story. One of them said how dreamy Drake was. He killed a guy for Misty. So dreamy. What? Do people honestly think that way? Is that really romantic? I find it a bit scary personally. Maybe he has other issues? Anger issues? Anything. I don't think a normal person would almost beat a guy to death, and if they did I don't think it would be this super positive thing. Yes good he helped, but that was a little too far. Anyways Misty is upset about what happened, but doesn't actually seem to be. They talked about it for a second and she says:

"He touched me and I didn't want him to. He took my security away."

Really? That is how you would be talking shortly after almost being raped? So blase and calm? This incident supposedly gives her nightmares, and she doesn't want to go to sleep at night because when she shuts her eyes she sees the creep, but she doesn't really seem that upset by what happened. It was just...I would expect someone to be more upset than that. Show a little more emotion. Any emotion.

So Misty had a rough past, but everything gets instantly better for her. Her aunt who didn't take her in when her parents died? Perfect. Super nice and Misty instantly forgives her for abandoning her. Yeah. She gets a job right away, gets a car from her aunt, gets a loving family and boyfriend. Yey her.

Well let's talk about this boyfriend Drake. I don't really know why I would like him. He keeps making out with random girls all the while thinking how much he needs and loves Misty. He breaks up with his girlfriend on the way home so he can be with Misty. He drops Misty off at her aunts and is super sad to leave her. She is his life now. Once home his ex shows up and starts making out with him. What does he do? Continues to make out with her for a little bit. Wow I see how much Misty really means to you...he gets a hickey from the ex, but somehow it is not there the next day when he sees Misty so she never has to know he was all  sucking face with her. Then the day after sleeping (just sleeping) in his truck all night with Misty and thinking how much he loves her Drake is waiting for her to call and it is the afternoon and she hasn't called yet so he goes to his friends house. The friend is having a party and he has a few drinks then another girl starts making out with him. Again what does he do? Keeps making out with her. If he hadn't called her Misty at some point he would have had sex with her. Man he is such a keeper! It is like he cannot possibly not make out with a girl if she starts kissing him, even though the love of his life, his future, his everything, is not the one doing it. It was so annoying!

Then he brings the ex to Misty's place of work. And the ex is all over him. Does he do anything about this? No. Then he doesn't really get why Misty would be all upset. Um hello, just because you are trying to be nice doesn't mean you should let your ex hang all over you in front of your supposed girlfriend. Misty does ignore him for a week after that, not so much for the ex being all up on him, but because then she realizes that she cannot fit into his world. He is rich and she is not and so it won't work. Well, that like everything else gets instantly resolved once they do talk. It all moves way too quickly and there is no real development to the story. It is just instantly this happened. After their first date Drake tries to get Misty to move in with him. I guess that is what you would need to do to make sure you don't go making out with other girls...So annoying. Everything in the book was just way too simple.

"I love everything about him. He wasn't completely honest with me, but I hadn't been forthcoming with my past. "

Yes this would work out perfect. So dreamy. Ugh. Not a good book. Will not be reading the next book to see what happens as I just don't care.
