Synopsis:

I’m the guy you love to hate.

In every story in my life, I seem to end up playing the villain—and I’ve got the scars to prove it.

That role works fine for me, because I’m sure as hell not anyone’s hero.

I run my life and my empire with an iron fist—until she knocks my tightly controlled world off its axis.

She’s nobody’s damsel in distress, but I can’t help but want to save her anyway.

I guess we’re about to find out if there’s a hero buried … beneath these scars.

Review:

Lucas is a good guy who always tries to act like a bad guy. People don't like him much because of this, but deep down he cares about people. If you can get past his defenses he would do anything to keep you safe.

Yve has a past. A past that she doesn't want anything to do with. Her family is made up of women who are mistresses and her ex-husband...well he is not a good guy. He finally made a mistake that sent him to jail, but he is about to get out. And Yve doesn't know what to do when it looks like he is back and messing with her. She is afraid, but is stubborn and determined to never rely on anyone. To never ask for help.

When fate intervenes and these two start to spend more time together the sparks fly. Lucas knows that Yve wants him even if she doesn't want to. And when she makes him an offer he can't refuse they start to spend more and more time together. And grow closer and closer. Only Yve doesn't want to really let him in and tell him her past, and he doesn't want to open up his own old wounds. The first parts of the book end up being a lot of super hot sexy time since that is their deal, but it was awesome. I loved getting to know Lucas more, especially after reading him in Beneath This Ink. I am glad to see he is not the super jerk everyone thinks. He just has his own demons to fight.

And It was super sweet to see Yve let someone in and have someone to lean on. I loved it. Both of them are strong, stubborn people used to getting their own way so it is not easy to get to happily ever after, but they work.

Such a fun read. I can't wait to read more from this author!
