Synopsis:

He’s the bad boy she’s always wanted...

Nate “Ghost” Weller has loved Ali Morgan nearly half his life. But he’s done something so heinous he’s convinced she’ll never forgive him if she discovers the truth, so he keeps his feelings and his secrets to himself. Then she blows into town with a mother lode of bad guys on her tail and Nate can’t deny she’s in serious trouble. Unfortunately, he’s the only one who can help her.

She’s the good girl he’s kept at arm’s length...

Ali knows Nate as the most solemn, aloof man on the planet. Sadly, he’s also the sexiest. For years she’s avoided him, unable to stomach his dark scowls and brooding silences… especially when she secretly yearns for his touch. Now she must rely on him to save her from the malevolent shadows ghosting her every move. When the bullets explode, so does their passion. But can love really conquer all? Or are some things just too terrible to forgive?

Review:

I enjoyed Hell on Wheels. I love me a story that has an ex-military guy who is now in security and falls in love. I don't know why, but I love them. And this was just what I wanted to read.

Nate has liked Ali from the first moment he saw her. Only she is his best friends sister and his bff keeps warning him he will kill Nate if he even thinks about going near her. So he has to keep himself closed off and tightly in control so he doesn't do something he shouldn't, no matter how much he may want to.

Ali thinks she doesn't like Nate. Why would she? He always tries to steer clear of her and his big, broody silences make her babble every time. She knows he hates that so he couldn't possibly like her. He made that clear in the past. So what happens when she realizes she really does like him? And they are now stuck together because some people are after her and she has nowhere else to go? Oh, it gets fun. Ali is stronger than she looks. Her brother prepared her to be able to take care of herself and even though she is in a bit of a tricky situation she doesn't back down from doing what she can to help out. She wants to be there every step of the way until they figure out who is after her and why.

Now Nate does have some secrets he is keeping from Ali. Some things he thinks will make her hate him and make him keep her even more at arm's length. Only he keeps slipping...and it is getting harder and harder not to take what she is offering. He seems to always know what she needs and is opening up more and more to her. It is only a matter of time before he slips and accepts what he really wants, Ali.

Now besides these two falling for each other there was a lot of set up for the next book, Frank and Becky. So much so that I thought they would end up getting together in this story as well. I did find that a little odd as they and their story were definitely main characters as well.
