Confess (Sin City Salvation #1) by A. Zavarelli

Now available on

Synopsis:

Lucian
A life free from sin.
For seventeen years, I have lived and breathed those words. But there is no balm to the war inside my soul.
Until her.
The mysterious beauty too lethal to taste. She’s a thief, a con, the essence of everything I loathe. Still, she lures me in with her lying eyes.
In the dark of night, she came to confess her sins, and in the light of morning, I plotted to steal her away.
She will be my ruination. My damnation. My biggest regret.
So help me, God.

Gypsy
A word of advice? Don’t show me your vulnerabilities because I will find a way to exploit them. I learned the hard way to take what I want from life with no regrets.
Until him.
He’s one of the most hated men in America. A soulless criminal attorney. A recluse. And as of five minutes ago, my new husband.
He wants to keep my secrets and collect my tears, but he should know that a wild animal can’t be domesticated.
I don’t know how to love men. I only know how to leave them.
With everything I want.

Review:

This book. This story. This...this is a hard review to write. Because I absolutely adored Confess, but I don't want to give anything away. I want everyone who reads it to be able to go on the same journey I went on, to go through all of it and not know what would happen next. This author really outdid herself with this story. I love all of her books, but this is for sure my new favorite. I couldn't put this book down.

Gypsy is a con artist. She uses her looks to lure unsuspecting guys in and then blackmails them for money. She gets the dirt on them and uses it against them all while looking all sweet and innocent. And why shouldn't she? She kind of feels like the universe owes her for what she and her sister have been through. Her sister whom she would do anything for. Her sister who she has been looking out for and taking care of forever. And men are all the same - good for nothing but a payday. And they all see Gypsy and her good looks and don't even notice that she is playing them until it is too late. All men that is except Lucian.

Lucian was an interesting read. I loved that we don't really know what is going on with him and why he intrudes into Gypsy's life. He definitely has some secrets and man when they came out my heart hurt for him. I got it, but man. He has not had it easy himself. He is a great lawyer who everyone thinks is this heartless horrible person because he defends murderers and such, but he is really such a great guy. He would do anything to help someone who needs him because he understands. And he does not fall for Gypsy's tricks. When he gets involved with her he doesn't think it will ever turn into anything. That is not the plan. The plan is just to help her be a better person, but of course things don't always work the way you think they will.

These two were amazing together. Gypsy does have a bit of a spoiled brat attitude at first and Lucian is kind of like a parent with her, but they also have that connection. That thing between them that neither wanted, but they can't dismiss it either. Plus once you find out everything that is going on, all of Lucian's secrets, it was like I was reading as fast as I could because I couldn't wait to see what happened, but also trying to read slower because I wanted it to last. I absolutely loved how everything played out. When you get to know these characters you just want nothing but the best for them and all you can do is go one day at a time and hope everything works out. Oh, this story was amazing. If you have read this author before then you are in for a treat. If she is new to you this is a great place to start. Because Lucian and Gypsy are everything.
